Dr. Mandakini D. Patel is a board-certified Pediatrician trained at the UC-Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA and has been practicing Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine in San Jose, CA since 1986. Dr. Patel graduated from the prestigious M.S. University of Baroda Medical College in Baroda (India) after being selected from a few thousand applicants based on top academic merits. Dr. Patel wanted to be a Pediatrician from early childhood as she had a passion to help children. Dr. Patel passed her Board exam in the USA on her first attempt and is a Fellow of American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Mandakini Patel has been Chairman of Pediatrics and Chairman of Women and Children Service and serves on several Leadership Committees at Regional Medical Center of San Jose, CA. Dr. Patel received great commendations during her training at UC Davis Medical Center as well as in her practice years. These commendations have been for excellent diagnostic skills and recognition of emergency situations that saved her patients' lives. A few years after her training was completed, she also received a letter from a well-known UC Davis neonatologist (who published a book on Neonatology) acclaiming her for having diagnosed a rare condition where the baby bleeds into the placenta. Although the infant was born full term with no prenatal complications, he went floppy immediately after birth. If there had been a delay in recognizing this rare condition, the baby would have ended up with neurological deficits. The attending physician noted in his letter that Dr. Patel's prompt diagnosis and treatment not only saved the baby's life but at age 5 years he was doing well neurologically and appeared to be a perfectly healthy 5 year old. Dr. Patel's great diagnostic skills were displayed again when she treated a 4 year old in the E.R. The child had seen the orthopedic surgeon and his primary care physician for about 4-5 months with recurrent fracture of his ankle area and repeated casting. His fracture recurred every time the cast was removed. Dr. Patel actually diagnosed that the patient had leukemia with bone involvement and the orthopedic doctor and his primary care physician missed this.

Dr. Patel spends time to get to know her patients, what they are specifically experiencing and their demographic background, in order to better relate to them and explain different preventive care and dietary recommendations depending on their background. Dr. Patel reviews all lab/test reports and consultation reports and if necessary, she will recall patients for earlier visit.

Dr. Patel treats her patients as if they were family, with great compassion. She places emphasis on preventive care and is thoroughly knowledgeable in Pediatrics. She takes the time to explain the problems to patients/family. Dr. Patel believes that the patient and their family and the doctor have to work as a team. She goes out of her way to make the patient and family at ease with her. Dr. Patel has excellent bedside manners and rapport with patients/family. Being a parent herself, she relates well to the concerns of patients' parents/guardian. This allows her to develop a strong relationship with her patients. Even long after they grow up, a multitude of her patients want to continue seeing her and bring their children to her.
